2015 Registration and Allocation Report

Please review and distribute as appropriate.

The attached report provides registration and license collection data for January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015.  The information is separated by statewide, county, and Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Regional Service Center collections.

We are pleased to report the number of vehicles registered and registration fees collected reached an all-time high in 2015.  Together, we registered 24.2 million vehicles statewide in 2015, which is an increase of more than 173,080 vehicles registered from the prior year.

Statewide registration fees collected increased over last year to almost $1.89 billion. Over $414 million of that was distributed to counties, over $1.45 billion to the state, and over $2.28 million to specialty plate sponsorships.  Harris, Dallas, Bexar, Tarrant, and Travis counties were the top five counties for total revenue collection.

Thank you for your ongoing contributions to this effort, and congratulations on a job well done.

Jeremiah Kuntz, Director
Vehicle Titles and Registration Division
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles
