Army Plate Redesign

Please review and distribute as appropriate.

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles will replace approximately 50,000 military and Disabled Veteran specialty license plates that feature the U.S. Army Emblem beginning January 1, 2019. The U.S. Army initiated a redesign of the license plates, replacing the Army Emblem (round seal) with the Army Logo (U.S. Army name and star). This communication is intended to ensure you have awareness of this effort, but no additional action is required by county tax assessor-collector staff.

We will notify Army plate customers by a letter (a sample is attached) that their plates are being replaced. The letter informs customers that new plates with the same plate number will be shipped directly to their homes after they renew their registration.

Please contact the Special Plates Unit at (512) 374-5010 if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Jeremiah Kuntz, Director
Vehicle Titles and Registration Division

If you have any comments or suggestions concerning this VTR communication process, please contact your local TxDMV Regional Service Center.
