eTAG system issue (7/22/2016 3:10 p.m.)

 

Good afternoon,

 

An issue has been identified with the eTAG 2.0 system.  The issue allowed multiple temporary tags to be issued with the same tag number.  This issue started on Monday July 18, 2016.  The system was repaired the morning of Friday July 22, 2016 and is no longer issuing  duplicate temporary tags. TxDMV is working to resolve the previously issued duplicate temporary tags.  If your dealership issued tags that are impacted by this defect you will be contacted by TXDMV with additional instructions.

 

Law enforcement officers have been informed and may be contacting the dealership listed on the temporary tag to determine if it is valid. Please contact the TxDMV IT Service Desk if you have a question regarding a temporary tag. Additional information will be sent as it becomes available. 

 

The state wide ticket number for this issue is: 86662
