Motor Carrier Credentialing System (MCCS) revised credit card fees

Starting Aug. 11, 2014, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will process credit card payments for Motor Carrier Operating Authority, also called Credentials, through the Texas.gov system, the official website for the State of Texas. State law requires the use of this system.

The online Motor Carrier Credentialing System (MCCS) will process credit card payments through Texas.gov. MCCS is used to process all Credentialing applications, including those submitted by phone, mail or fax.

The new credit card fee is 25 cents plus 2.25 percent of the total. Previously customers were charged a flat rate fee of $1 for credit card transactions, which did not cover the full costs to provide the service.

The TxDMV will not retain any funds from the added processing fees.
