The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) has selected Jeremiah Kuntz as the new director of the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division (VTR). Kuntz currently serves as the director of the Government and Strategic Communications Division which he created when he joined the agency in 2011.
VTR is responsible for vehicle titling, registration and issuing license plates and disabled placards. It oversees 16 regional service centers and provides policy and procedural support to the 254 county tax assessor-collectors who process registration and title applications throughout Texas. The division also updates and maintains the state motor vehicle database. Currently, there are more than 23 million registered vehicles in Texas.
Kuntz came to the TxDMV with a strong background in public service, having worked for the Office of the Governor of Texas, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Senate. He also served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He received a bachelor of business degree in finance from Southwest Texas University in San Marcos.
Kuntz’s new position begins September 1, 2014. TxDMV’s public information officer, Adam Shaivitz, will serve as acting director of the Government and Strategic Communications Division until that position is filled.
