Phased Implementation of the Refactored RTS Point of Sale and Cognos Enterprise Reporting Tool
Please review and distribute as appropriate.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will soon begin a phased implementation of the refactored RTS Point of Sale (POS) and Cognos enterprise reporting tool. Headquarters and regional service centers (RSCs) will participate in the first roll out the week of May 18, and counties will follow in four phases the weeks of June 1, June 8, June 22, and July 6. RSC managers will reach out to each county to provide specific implementation dates.
The refactored RTS POS will update the system’s underlying technology and provide an enhanced look and feel to the system while largely maintaining the same functionality. This approach allows us to position the RTS system for the future and make needed enhancements more efficiently.
The Cognos enterprise reporting tool provides users with on-demand access to the report information they need. For headquarters and RSC users, this will mean easier access to the data required to answer business questions. For counties, this will provide more flexibility in how information is accessed, stored, and shared.
Prior to the implementation dates, TxDMV will be hosting separate training webinars for both RTS POS and Cognos. You will receive a notification of your deployment date and an invitation for the associated training for your phase of the implementation. Training attendance is a critical component in transitioning to the refactored system and new reporting tool.
The refactored RTS and Cognos tool will allow us to continue to grow and adapt as we all work to provide the motoring public with exceptional customer service.
