REMINDER: Planned maintenance eTAGS/ webDEALER (7/16/16 @ 11:00 PM – 7/17/16 @ 11:00 AM CST)

Good morning,

On Saturday, July 16, 2016, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will be updating the eTAG application beginning at 11:00 pm Saturday (7/16/16) and lasting until approximately 11:00 am Sunday (7/17/16). This update will include processing efficiencies, improved performance across various web browsers, and an extension of the time before which an eTAG plate pattern can be reissued.  In addition, this deployment is a step toward moving the eTAG system into the webDEALER family.  This will establish a one-stop location for creating electronic dealer tags, processing title applications and new registrations online. The inclusion of eTAG into the webDEALER family is currently on target to be completed in mid-2017.

Beginning Sunday, July 17, 2016, you will notice a change in the look of the eTAG system. The eTAG image has been updated to match the webDEALER family image.

For now, you should continue to access the eTAG system in the same manner that you do today. Dealers should use their pre-printed Internet Down buyer’s tags during the outage.  Every dealer is now allowed a minimum of 30 Internet Down tags.  If you have less than 30 printed, print your full allocation now so you are prepared when the eTAG system is unavailable.  Please remember that after using an Internet Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into eTAG as soon as the system is accessible.  Doing this, will ensure you always have the full allocation of unused Internet Down tags available when you need them. Also remember that unused Internet Down tags are valid for one year from the date they are printed.
