“Two Steps, One Sticker” Website Launch and Marketing Materials

Please review and distribute as appropriate.

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is launching our website dedicated to the “Two Steps, One Sticker” program.  The site is designed to help inform the motoring public and stakeholders of the change requiring verification of inspection at the time of initial registration or renewal.  This change will also establish the registration sticker as proof of both registration and inspection.  As you know, the change will go into effect on March 1, 2015.

The website www.TwoStepsOneSticker.com will be live Monday, October 20, and contains specialized sections for motorists, dealers, government entities, fleet, and motor carriers.  The website also includes a handy tool where Texans can enter their inspection sticker and registration sticker expiration dates to determine whether they need a new inspection prior to registering, or renewing registration, for their vehicle.  So, please help us spread the word and encourage everyone to take advantage of the useful information provided on the website!

Also the week of October 20, your county offices and substations will begin to receive their starter kits containing the marketing materials for this program. We encourage your office to familiarize yourselves with the materials prior to sharing them with the public and suggest posters be displayed in your office on or after November 20. However, we ask that you do not display the “Misstep” push card until the program goes live March 1, 2015. Attached is the flyer that will be in every starter kit.

Please contact your local TxDMV Regional Service Center if you have questions or need to request additional materials.

Thank you,

Jeremiah Kuntz, Director
Vehicle Titles and Registration Division
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles
