Newest Release of webDEALER
Please review and distribute as appropriate.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) newest release of webDEALER, the online system that processes new vehicle title and registration applications, is rolling out. The TxDMV does not require an agreement between the county and a dealer to use webDEALER. Electronic submission of a title application where the county issues the plates and prints the sticker is just like walk-ins and mail-ins.
There are currently 80 counties signed up for webDEALER. The system allows participating counties to set up any new vehicle dealer to use webDEALER. A notice to franchise dealers announcing this newest release will follow in about a week encouraging them to contact their local county tax office to get started.
So, what will webDEALER’s newest release do, and what is in it for you?
• Each county will now be able to authorize franchise dealers from any of Texas’ 254 counties to process transactions electronically.
• Even if you do not have a franchise dealer in your county, webDEALER can make it easy for dealers in neighboring counties to process title applications in your county.
• Allows counties to return inaccurate title applications electronically thus eliminating sending paperwork back and forth.
• Allows transfer of over 90% of specialty plates with accurate fees presented to the dealer reducing plate fee inquiries and returns for incorrect fees.
Keep in mind that webDEALER is currently for new vehicles; used vehicle functionality will be available in early 2015 after a thorough piloting period.
