Single Sticker Webinars for Government Exempt Agencies

In the single sticker webinars for county tax offices held in September 2014, we mentioned similar learning sessions would be presented to other groups impacted by the program, including government agencies that operate vehicles with standard exempt registration.  These vehicles are issued standard exempt license plates that display the word “EXEMPT.”

The first webinars for government agencies were held October 1, 2014, and October 2, 2014.  We were notified that many government agencies affected by the new program were unable to attend due to prior commitments.  As a result, additional webinars were scheduled to allow government agency staff the opportunity to receive the information and prepare for the March 1, 2015, implementation date.   While the government invitation has been distributed through several channels, we want to achieve as much participation as possible by ensuring the message is also heard locally. 

The single sticker information presented in the webinars for government agencies will be the same information that was provided to you.  We ask for your assistance in spreading the message to government agencies in your area, including other county offices, law enforcement, city offices and school districts that would benefit from participating in one of the upcoming webinars.  Please share the information below with any of the applicable government agencies within your area.

The single sticker program, also known as “Two Steps, One Sticker,” requiring verification of vehicle inspection prior to initial registration or renewal will begin statewide on March 1, 2015.  The program is a result of House Bill 2305 enacted during the 83rd Legislative Session.

As mentioned in the high level overview for your county, renewal notices will be sent for vehicles with standard exempt license plates as a means for fleet managers to remit the state’s portion of the inspection fee and to comply with inspection verification.  Additionally, a vehicle registration sticker will be issued for each vehicle with standard exempt license plates due to the elimination of inspection stickers starting March 1, 2015.
