Distribution of metal license plates has begun!
In the coming days, dealers will begin to receive individual emails from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) outlining key details related to their initial plate shipment. Each message will include:

The number of license plates you will receive

The shipping location associated with your GDN
-
Additional information to help you prepare for delivery
Please keep an eye on your inbox for this important communication. Texas is a large state with thousands of dealerships, which requires the TxDMV to distribute metal plates to groups of dealerships for several weeks.
Additionally, TxDMV will soon be offering Inventory Management Training to support your dealership in receiving, tracking, assigning, and securely managing license plates. As a reminder, all metal plates must be securely stored and not issued to customers until July 1, 2025.
