The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will release an update to TxPROS at 6 p.m., April 16th, 2025. We do not anticipate any downtime. This update will introduce a variety of new and improved features designed to enhance the overall customer experience. Key enhancements include:
- The permit PDF will now include a QR code allowing direct access to the permit details when scanned.
- Well servicing unit mileage permits that exceed 254,300 GVW will include the generated route and allow modifications to the route prior to submission for issuance.
- Permits that must be mailed will allow the permit PDF to be viewed and verified. Changes can be made prior to the payment, issuance, and mailing of the permit.
- In accordance with Texas Administrative Code, a form will be required when requesting a sticker replacement for permits that require a windshield sticker. A valid reason for replacement will be required.
- Vehicle inventories will be sorted in true alphanumeric order so that the user may locate power units and trailers more efficiently.
- Additional email addresses or fax numbers may be added to the permit delivery method.
- The loading method for multiple items can be selected (end to end, side by side, stacked, nested).
- A drop-down menu for vehicle make will be available.
- To ensure accuracy, the tire width, the number of tires, and axle weight will be verified when a substantial variance is entered between axles and the overall length when overhang is included.
- Tire size may be entered in inches or millimeters.
- Route inspection permits can be copied without being tied to the previous route inspection.
- The map will offer the option to view TxDOT Districts and county lines.
