Title Application Processing for Courtesy Deliveries

Texas DMV

The following provides guidance regarding the processing of title applications for courtesy deliveries. A courtesy delivery is when a vehicle is sold to Texas residents by either an out of state dealership, or a dealership that is not located a convenient distance from the purchaser and is later delivered to the purchaser by a Texas dealership who agrees to assist with the delivery. The dealer retailing the motor vehicle to the purchaser must complete all title and sales documents and may provide a Texas dealer with authorization to submit the title application to the county tax office for processing on the dealer’s behalf.

Courtesy delivery applications cannot be processed in webDEALER since the Texas dealer submitting the title application is not the retailing dealer. As a result, Texas dealers submitting courtesy delivery title applications on the retail dealer’s behalf must submit these applications to the county tax office outside of webDEALER.

County tax offices must process these applications in the Registration and Title System and should not reject the application for processing in webDEALER.

Reminder: The Title Application Processing Guidelines document outlines the most common title applications that can or cannot be processed in webDEALER to assist dealers and county tax offices with application handling. This document is updated as needed, and is located on our HB 718 resources tab on our website: House Bill 718 Implementation | TxDMV.gov
