Good afternoon,

Over the weekend of August 26, 2023, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will 
update the RTS System starting at 6:00 PM Saturday (08/26/2023), lasting up to
10:00 AM Sunday (08/27/2023).  During the deployment window, you may experience 
intermittent connectivity issues when accessing the RTS System. 

Note: A notification update will be published after the RTS deployment is completed.

Good afternoon,

Over the weekend of August 26, 2023, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV)
will update the webDealer System starting at 6:00 PM Saturday (08/26/2023),
lasting up to 10:00 AM Sunday (08/27/2023).  During the deployment window, you may
experience intermittent connectivity issues when accessing the webDealer System. 

As a reminder, if you are unable to print buyer’s tags, you should use your pre-printed Internet Down tags. 
Every dealer is allowed a minimum of 30 Internet Down tags. Please remember that after using an Internet
Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into webDealer as soon as the system is accessible. 
Doing this, will ensure you always have the full allocation of unused Internet Down tags available when you
need them. Internet Down tags are valid for one year from the date they are printed.

Note: A notification update will be published once the webDealer deployment is
completed.

DPS Inspection System Outage – Dealer Impact

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is experiencing issues that are preventing inspections from being saved to the database. Due to this vehicle inspection issue, vehicle inspections cannot be conducted by inspection stations after August 23, 2023. This outage will prevent dealers from issuing a Buyer’s Tag for a vehicle that was not inspected prior to August 24, 2023. If you experience difficulty issuing a Buyer’s Tag for an inspected vehicle, it is appropriate to utilize your pre-printed Internet Down tags. Every dealer is allocated a minimum of 30 Internet Down tags.

Please remember that after using an Internet Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into webDEALER.  Doing this will ensure you always have the full allocation of unused Internet Down tags available when you need them. Internet Down tags are valid for one year from the date they are printed.

An update will be sent once the issue has been resolved.

RTB 004-23 Travel Trailers (HB 198)

Registration and Title Bulletin (RTB) #004-23 provides guidance on the self-inspection of travel trailers with a gross vehicle weight more than 7,500 lbs. in lieu of a state safety inspection as a result of House Bill 198, enacted by the 88th Legislature, Regular Session. A new form, Application for Self-Certification of Travel Trailer More Than 7,500 lbs. (Form VTR-269), has been created to facilitate the self-inspection.

RTB #004-23 and Form VTR-269 are attached.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is experiencing issues that are preventing
inspections from being saved to the database.  Due to this situation, Texas Department
of Motor Vehicle customers will need to renew their vehicle’s registration 
at their county office enabling clerks to manually verify the customer’s paperwork.

The DPS currently has no estimated time of resolution.

TxDMV has implemented a fix for 72hr/144hr Temporary Permits in RTS Point of Sale (POS),
in addition to Online Temporary Permits.  You should no longer experience any issues when
requesting 72hr/144hr Temporary Permits via RTS POS or directly online.
