TxDMV publishes rule proposals in the April 17, 2020, issue of the Texas Register

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) has proposed rules in the April 17, 2020, issue of the Texas Register. The proposed language is available on TxDMV’s website at https://www.txdmv.gov/general-counsel/proposed-and-adopted-rules.

The proposals are posted for public comment until 5:00 p.m. on May 18, 2020. Please submit separate comments for each proposal.

 

The proposals include:

 

  • amendments to §217.144 renaming Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority to Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority;

 

  • new §217.11 concerning extended deadline to submit an affidavit asking the department to rescind, cancel, or revoke an existing title or application for a title for a vehicle involved in the process of a first sale;

 

  • amendments to §§217.22, 217.27, 217.32, 217.38, 217.41, 217.55 and new §§217.58-217.64 concerning digital license plates; and

 

  • amendments to §217.182 concerning issuance of an off-highway license plate to the list of registration transactions.
