Good morning,

Over the evening of Thursday, September 21, 2023, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will update the Registration and Titling System (RTS) with Release 23.4.1.

The following systems and applications will be updated in this release:

      – Cognos

Good afternoon,

Over the evening of Thursday, September 21, 2003, the Texas Department of Motor
Vehicles (TxDMV) will update the webDealer System starting at 10:00 PM, lasting up
to 11:59 PM.  During the deployment window, you may experience intermittent
connectivity issues when accessing the webDealer System. 

As a reminder, if you are unable to print buyer’s tags, you should use your pre-printed Internet Down tags. 
Every dealer is allowed a minimum of 30 Internet Down tags. Please remember that after using an Internet
Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into webDealer as soon as the system is accessible. 
Doing this, will ensure you always have the full allocation of unused Internet Down tags available when you
need them. Internet Down tags are valid for one year from the date they are printed.

Note: A notification update will be published once the webDealer deployment is
completed.

Update Notification: webDEALER Used Travel Trailer Plates (09/13/2023 @ 2:30 PM)

Good afternoon,

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is aware of an issue where users
are unable to assign plates to Used Travel Trailer records in webDEALER.  

Support Staff are correcting Used Travel Trailer records on a nightly basis, so that
plates can be successfully assigned to impacted records on the next business day.

An update will be provided once this issue has been resolved.

The Used Travel Trailer plate assignment issue has been resolved.

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) plans to implement system
maintenance for the webDealer System.  The maintenance is scheduled to begin
this evening, Tuesday, September 12, starting at 10:00 PM, lasting up to 11:00 PM.

Due to the nature of this maintenance, the webDealer System will be unavailable
during the maintenance window.

As a reminder, if you are unable to print buyer’s tags, you should use your pre-printed Internet
Down tags. Every dealer is allowed a minimum of 30 Internet Down tags. Please remember that
after using an Internet Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into webDealer

TxDMV publishes rule proposals in the September 1, 2023, issue of the Texas Register

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) has proposed rules in the September 1, 2023, issue of the Texas Register. A summary of the proposed rules and the proposed language is available on TxDMV’s website at https://www.txdmv.gov/general-counsel/proposed-and-adopted-rules.

The proposals are published in the September 1, 2023, issue of the Texas Register and are posted for public comment until 5:00 p.m. on October 1, 2023.

The proposals include:

  • amendments to 43 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §§206.92, 206.93, and new 206.98 concerning advisory committees;
  • amendments to 43 TAC §211.6 concerning fingerprint requirements for license applicants and holders;
  • amendments to 43 TAC §217.52 concerning the marketing of specialty license plates through a private vendor;
  • amendments to 43 TAC §217.54 concerning registration of fleet vehicles; and
  • amendments to 43 TAC Chapter 219 concerning oversize and overweight vehicle loads.

TxDMV Holiday Hours – Labor Day 2023

In observance of Labor Day, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023.

Vehicle title and registration services: Most vehicle title and registration services are provided by your county tax office. County tax office hours may vary. Registration renewal is available online 24/7 at www.TxDMV.gov. 

Oversize/Overweight permits: Motor Carrier Oversize/Overweight permits can be ordered online 24/7 through the Texas Permitting and Routing Optimization System (TxPROS) at www.TxDMV.gov.
