Support Staff have identified an intermittent performance issue with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Vehicle Inspection Service.  This issue started on Saturday, March 10, 2018 and may cause a limited number of users to experience delays or other issues completing transactions.

Systems Impacted: All systems below may experience intermittent performance issues that may result in the customer being directed to go to the nearest county office:

  •  IVTRS

Systems Partially Impacted: All systems below may experience intermittent performance issues that may cause delays to transactions of one minute or more:

  • RTS
  • webDEALER
  • webSUB

Note: Support Staff are working with DPS to resolve the issue. A reply to all will be sent when the issue has been resolved.

Registration Renewals for Antiques

Please review and distribute as appropriate.

This notice is to inform you registration renewals for Antique license plates expiring March 31 were mailed later than usual. The printing and mailing delay of the renewal notices was caused by a technical issue related to the Registration and Title System (RTS) Release 9.0.0 that went into effect in January. RTS Release 9.0.0 allowed for the staggering of certain license plates, including the Antique plates, which up until this year have expired in March every five years. Antique plates will continue to be valid for 60 months, but they will be staggered based on the month of application and manufactured on demand.

As a reminder, there has been no change to the renewal process for those customers who have been approved to display a license plate that is the same model year as their qualifying vehicle (i.e., do not create a special plate record in the RTS for vehicles with an old plate).

Adopted 43 TAC §217.43, §217.45, and §217.46

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) has published in the Texas Register adopted changes to the Texas Administrative Code, which affect Chapter 217, §217.43, §217.45, and §217.46. The adopted Texas Register language is attached and it is also available on the Office of the Secretary of State’s website at http://www.sos.state.tx.us/texreg/pdf/currview/index.shtml.

These adopted changes are effective on March 4, 2018 and the changes will be included in the Texas Administrative Code at http://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/public/readtac$ext.viewtac.

Resolved: eTAG Issue (03/04/2018 @ 6:28 AM CDT)

Good morning,

 

The issue with the eTAG system that prevented tags from printing has been resolved. If you experience any new issues with printing tags please contact the Service Desk.

The statewide ticket for this issue is: 167873 

Please remember that after using an Internet Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into eTAG as soon as the system is accessible. Doing this will ensure you always have the full allocation of unused Internet Down tags available when you need them. Also remember that unused Internet Down tags are valid for one year from the date they are printed.

Update: eTAG Issue (03/03/2018 @ 9:30 PM CDT)

Good evening,

The eTAG system continues to experience issues printing tags. Support staff are working to resolve the issue. An update will sent by tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM CDT (03/04/2018).

The statewide ticket for this issue is: 167873

As a reminder, if you are unable to print buyer’s tags, you should use your pre-printed Internet Down buyer’s tags.   As you know, every dealer is now allowed a minimum of 30 Internet Down tags.  If you have less than 30 printed, print your full allocation now so you are prepared when the eTags system is unavailable.  Please remember that after using an Internet Down tag, you must enter the information for that tag into eTags as soon as the system is accessible.  Doing this, will ensure you always have the full allocation of unused Internet Down tags available when you need them. Also remember that unused Internet Down tags are valid for one year from the date they are printed.
